Although Chris Anstey didn't take up basketball until the age of 17, it wasn't long before he became one of Australia's most well travelled and premier basketball players playing in both Australia, USA, Russia and Spain over his 14 year professional Basketball career.
After a succesfull career in the NBL, Anstey was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 1997 NBA Draft with the 18th overall selection.
The Blazers traded Ansteys draft rights before he had played a game to the Dallas Mavericks where he would go on to average 5.9 PPG, 3.8 RPG and 16 minutes playing time per game in his first season.
Anstey's numbers dropped in his second year at the Mavericks and was traded to the Chicago Bulls for a second round draft pick where he would play 73 games during the 1999-2000 season.
Anstey returned to the NBL with the Victoria Titans in 2001-2002 and went on to win the leagues Most Valuable Player award in 2006 and 2008 and defensive player-of-the-year in 2008.
Anstey finished with career NBA averages of 5.2 PPG, 3.4 RPG and 0.4 BPG in 155 games with 23 starts.
