A number of key fantasy stars on bye this week, hopefully my starts, sits and sleepers for Week 12 will help you out.
Rashad Jennings (RB - Oakland Raiders) Since taking over as the Raiders starting running back due to Darren McFadden being injured yet again, Jennings has consistently put up good numbers. With Terrelle Pryor no longer behind centre and poaching rushing touchdowns, Jennings is set up for a good week against a weak Tennessee run defence who have allowed a league high 13 rushing touchdowns to tailbacks. I would expect Jennings to rush over 100 yards and a Touchdown, don’t let him be a Raider put you off starting him!
Zac Stacy (RB - St Louis Rams) Stacy over the past three weeks has clearly become the number one running back for the Rams. Over that time span he has rushed for a healthy 323 yards and 3 touchdowns. In Week 12 he has the luxury of playing a porous run defence in the Chicago Bears who last week made a struggling Baltimore Ravens rushing attack look amazing. Stacy should be on track for another 100 yard rushing day.
Pittsburgh Steelers (D/ST) Steelers are my defensive pick-up of the week as they will get to face the faltering offence of the Cleveland Browns who gave up 27 fantasy points to the Cincinnati Bengals defence in Week 11. I expect the Steelers will throw a number of blitz’s at Browns Quarterback Jason Campbell once again forcing him into errant throws and thus interceptions will follow. While I don’t expect the Steelers to match the 27 points Cincinnati put up, I wouldn't be surprised to see them score in the teens.
Antonio Gates (TE - San Diego Chargers) Gates can not be trusted in this weeks game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs are the best team in the NFL at defending against the Tight End position and Chargers Quarterback Philip Rivers seems to be fading as the season goes on. While it’s unlikely you're going to want to sit Gates as Tight End options are few and far between, I would expect a very pedestrian effort from the former college Basketball star.
Rod Streater (WR - Oakland Raiders) Streater will be the number one receiver this week as Denarius Moore has been ruled out for Sundays game against the Tennessee Titans. While the Titans may offer a week run defence, their pass defence is top notch as they allowed the fewest fantasy points to wide receivers in the league. Streater probably will see a good number of targets but I put no trust him in this week. Put him on your bench.
Ryan Tannehill (QB - Miami Dolphins) Tannehill vs a very tough Carolina Panthers defense, I know where I would put my money. It’s going straight on the top pass defence in the league, the Panthers. The most fantasy points a Quarterback has put up against the Panthers on the season is 15. A measly 15 points, for me that’s all I need to know. Do not start Tannehill that would be a terrible idea.
Mike Glennon (QB - Tampa Bay Buccaneers) Glennon is your super sub for Week 12 if you’re a Nick Foles or Russell Wilson owner. Glennon has done nothing but play well since getting the nod to start. He doesn’t put up huge numbers, but he protects the ball well and has thrown a Touchdown in every game he’s started. He is coming off a strong outing against the Atlanta Falcons and should have to throw a lot to keep up with the high flying offence of the Detroit Lions.
Donald Brown (RB - Indianapolis Colts) Brown has a tough matchup in Week 12 as he will face the league's toughest run defence the Arizona Cardinals. He appears to have finally got ahead of Trent Richardson on the depth chart and had a strong game against the Tennessee Titans last week so while I don’t expect he will put up mammoth numbers, if you're an owner with backs on a bye he should be able to get the job done.
Who are you starting or sitting this season? Or who do you think might surprise as a sleeper this week?
