Hey there football fans, and welcome to the NFL Down Under ‘Team of the Week’ column for Week 10. As our loyal readers we figured we should hear which team you think played best each week, instead of having us rant and rave in our narrow-minded and subjective ways. Every Tuesday we will send out a Facebook post and tweet, and based on your responses the team with the most mentions will be crowned weekly champion.
THE NFL DOWN UNDER WEEK 10 WINNER IS:
THE GREEN BAY PACKERS (9-0)Week 6 result- Green Bay Packers 45, Minnesota Vikings 7. This game was never going to be pretty for the Vikings as they faced the defending champions at Lambeau Field. They came, they saw, they lost. Rookie Randall Cobb’s 80-yard punt return for a touchdown after 78 seconds of play basically put this one to bed. Divisional standing- First in the NFC North, +134 point differential.
Standout players- Unfortunately for the Scandinavian seafaring pirates wearing purple and yellow, Aaron Rodgers was at his best. 23/30 for 250 yards and four touchdowns certainly did the job. What made his performance all the more impressive was how he shared the ball – 10 different receivers made a reception with none accumulating more than three. The Green Bay defence finally stepped up to the plate too, limiting Christian Ponder to 190 yards and most notably Adrian Peterson to only 51 yards. Linebacker Desmond Bishop was particularly ferocious with eight tackles, three QB hits and a sack. Randall Cobb showed flashes of brilliance too scoring on an 80-yard punt return on top of a 55-yard kick return, giving his team solid field position all day long.

I'm still stuck for ideas...""][/caption] What it means- This was an expected win in an expected result from undoubtedly the best team in the NFL. 9-0 doesn’t lie. The Packers didn’t play a single playoff game at home last season, but won't be the case come January. Provided the defence can stay healthy and continue to improve, they’re going to be one hard outfit to beat. Next week- Green Bay takes on the Buccaneers in Week 11 at Lambeau Field. They’ll win. Interestingly, however, Rodgers is yet to have a win as a starter against Tampa Bay. As is the case for head coach Mike McCarthy. Fun fact- The last time the Packers started 9-0 was in 1962. They won the championship that year. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Final thought- Aaron Rodgers has been outstanding this season. Borderline flawless. Yes, the Packers are a well-rounded and efficient team, but it’s been their QB who has led and driven them. But if Rodgers has an off day before now and January, do they have enough firepower to remain undefeated?
Reader Speak: Who was your 'team of the week'?-
Jennifer Redd- The Packers. Their defense stepped up to the plate and shut up a lot of nay sayers. And they improved to 9-0. That's a hard win-to-loss ratio to uphold against any team, but more impressive against a division rivalry who they had a hard time stopping last meeting. Hats off! Josh Hunt- Packers. Rodgers has a cold and still throws for 140.3. Can't fault that.
