They may have started the season with four straight losses, but the Saints have managed to avoid the spotlight for two weeks, courtesy of their first victory and then a bye. Generally, Week 6 is considered a good time to be fixtured the bye. You have the opportunity to take stock of where you after five games (which is rarely where you, or the media predicted you would be) and rest some bodies wearied from 5 frenetic games. However, in the case of the Saints it could not have come at a worse time. They had finally got a win on the board, only to have a week off before a visit to a Tampa Bay side who are coming off arguably their most complete football game as a team in years. Despite all of this, the Saints should get up easily. The Buccaneers are next-to-last in the league defending against the pass, while the Saints are actually still performing well offensively, 8th in the comp. Whether you are winning or losing, you will score plenty with somebody like Drew Brees dictating traffic through the air. While the Bucs had no issue scoring last week, that was against a pretty rubbish Chiefs outfit, so while we are not predicting a cricket score, we also don’t think that this is as close as the odds suggest. It’s a tough one to find value on, and we agonised over whether to be safe and give you the Saints at the minus (1) for $1.83. But we are going to give you value, Saints 13+ at $3.65 for the win. SUPER BOWL FUTURES MARKET – THE WEEK’S MOVEMENT The Texans faced a resurgent Green Bay Packers last week and lost their first game of the season, but they still claim top billing in our Super Bowl market, drifting only slightly from $5.50 to $6.50. After their win on Thursday night, the 49ers hold outright second place on $7.50. It was far from their most convincing win of the season, and a total of 16 points scored in two games will hardly be striking fear into their opponents minds, but by condemning their divisional rivals Seattle ($34) to a 4-3 record and with fellow NFC West sides St Louis ($201) and Arizona ($81) likely to lose this weekend, they will be most likely one game clear in their Division. The Falcons may not have anybody convinced that they are the real deal yet, but they keep shortening as they are the only 6-0 side, into $8 with the Pats. The Packers almost halved from $17 to $9 after beating Houston, while the Ravens’ great escape saw them steady at $11. How will they go without Lardarius Webb and Ray Lewis though? The Giants are also $11, with Chicago $13 and likely to shorten with a MNF win against Detroit. Their record on Monday’s under Lovie Smith is very good, 80% in fact. Denver round out the under $20 chances at $15 following their Peyton-inspired comeback against the Chargers. San Diego, Philly & Pittsburgh all eased to $34, with the Seahawks moving into that price from $61. Dallas are $51, the Saints $55 off a bye and Minnesota at $67 despite a 4-2 record. Detroit, Washington & the Jets are a hat-trick of sides at $81 to round out the double figures. Of the triple figure chances, special mention to the Bucs whose best performance in years sees them half to $201, while the Titans upset over the Steelers sees them do likewise to $251. The two bottom sides in the market, Oakland ($501) and Jacksonville ($1001) face off this week in basement classic as well. Click here to see our Super Bowl market.
