@betstarblast look at the best value in the NBA MVP market for the 2012/13 NBA SeasonHow exciting is it to be less than a month away until the start of the NBA season! We have been waiting with baited breath, and finally it is all starting, with NBA Europe Live 2012 games kicked off and the China Games and Canada Series not far away either. We have markets available now for the NBA Championship, NBA Rookie of the Year and NBA Most Valuable Player; today, we are going to dissect the latter for you.
LeBron The FavouriteLast year’s winner LeBron James (who has won 3 of the last 4 MVP gongs) starts a deserved favourite at $2.75, and there is absolutely no reason why LeBron can’t become the first player in history to go back to back for the second time; in fact, at age 27 there is no reason why LeBron can’t match, or even one day beat, the likes of Bill Russell (5 MVP awards), Michael Jordan (5) or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (6). Hot on the heels of LeBron is the story of last year’s playoffs, Oklahoma City Thunder’s star small forward Kevin Durant. The 24 year old was the All-Star game MVP last season, led the league in scoring for the third year in a row and was runner in to James for the MVP. Durant is the only player outside of LeBron who is in single figures for the title, showing just how highly he is regarded. He has been the most backed player in the market thus far, and is currently $4.50 These two guys are justifiably the shortest in the market, so your hard earned will not be wasted by having a look at them; the only way that they would fail to compete for the prize would be if they had a seriously bad run with injuries. But if you are looking for more value from the market, there are plenty of other double figure options in the market. Kobe Bryant ($10) is third in the line of betting, but much will depend how he goes alongside new signings Steve Nash ($15) and Dwight Howard ($11). While Bryant still claims that the Lakers are ‘his team’, there is no doubt that the addition of veteran Nash and Howard means that some of the offensive focus will shift towards them; the key for Kobe remains how many points he scores. If the trio team up with Pau Gasol effectively and spread the load, not only will the Lakers win the competition, but Bryant will have a great chance of picking up his 2nd MVP. Nash has two already, but we think it might be a bridge too far for the veteran to get up again and that’s why we have drifted his price; we are more than happy for you to take us on and prove us wrong on this count! If Kevin Love ($13) can get the T’Wolves to the playoffs, expect him to feature prominently in the main individual prize running. Shooting over 37% from 3-point range last year was phenomenal, and he had a great Olympics. Last year’s 3rd place-getter Chris Paul ($13) is the star player for a Clippers outfit who look a great shout to win a lot of games this year following some key retentions and signings, while expect Carmelo Anthony ($17) to drift if his scoring level goes down as he has predicted. Deron Williams ($15), Dwayne Wade ($17) and Russell Westbrook ($17) round out the Top 10 of betting, and then there are a couple of value bets we have spotted. Rajon Rondo seems massive overs at $23, and the Celtics star takes on even more responsibility following the departure of Ray Allen. Andrew Bynum, $34, gets to be the offensive focal point of a team for the first time in his career. If he can increase his scoring output and stay on the paddock, he appears very good value for those looking for it.
