The Replacements To Take Over After three days of meetings between the NFL and the NFL Referee's Association and no deal, it's become inevitable that at least the first week of regular season games will be officiated by replacement referees. While NFL continues to maintain the ref's will be up to standard, the reality is that we had better get used to seeing a lot more mistakes. He Just Can't Help Himself Rex Ryan is up to his old tricks again. After twice predicting Super Bowl victories during previous preseasons, then promising to keep his mouth shut, Rex Ryan has now said he thinks the current iteration of the New York Jets could be the best he's ever coached. Which would mean it's better than the two teams that made the AFC Championship game. Which implies he's going to the Super Bowl. You really just can't hold back, can you Rex? Shanahan Knows His Starting RB, But Shhhh, It's A Secret Trying to work out who is the starting running back for Mike Shanahan's Redskins is anybody's guess. Frankly my method for predicting it is putting their names on a dart board, closing my eyes and letting blind luck take it's course. But Shanahan says he knows who is the standout among the trio of Roy Helu, Evan Royster and Alfred Morris, but it's a secret. I don't think it matters too much anyway, they probably wont be the Week 2 starter if Shanahan is his usual self. The Philadelphia Eagles Run Of Pawning Off Backups Is Over After beginning the season as the No. 2 QB in Philly, Mike Kafka suddenly finds himself without a job. Kafka was released in the Eagles final roster cuts, but not before they tried to trade him. Luckily for the rest of the league, they've realised after Kevin Kolb, Donovan McNabb, AJ Feeley and Kelly Holcomb the league appears to have wised up to Andy Reid's ways.

Seahawks' Bryant Manages To Chip His Tooth While Celebrating Seattle Seahawks defensive end Red Bryant was celebrating a safety score when he, while not wearing a helmet, decided to chest bump defensive tackle Jaye Howard, who was wearing a helmet and you can see where its heading. While it's a bit of a bonehead mistake, it's not as bad as headbutting a wall to celebrate a TD. Cardinals Starting QB Decided After umm-ing and ahh-ing all preseason and while their prospective starters kept putting up lacklustre numbers in preseason games, the Arizona Cardinals finally came to a decision on who will open the season as starting quarterback. John Skelton, who was marginally less mediocre than Kevin Kolb was awarded the starting job. So the Cards have a second string quarterback, who has 5 years and $51 million left on his contract. Trent Richardson Might Make Week 1 The top running back taken in the 2012 Draft, the Cleveland Browns Trent Richardson has been under an injury cloud all preseason after undergoing arthriscopic knee surgery on August 9. But the former Alabama star has already returned to running and is starting to return to contact work. Browns Coach Pat Shurmur told media if Richardson makes it through practice this week, he will make his debut in the Brown and Orange in Week 1. After having an anaemic offence last season, the Browns will be hoping he's back as soon as possible. A USC RB Not Named Reggie Allegedly Received Benefits Another RB from USC may be getting into trouble for receiving benefits. This time it's the New York Jets Joe McKnight who allegedly was given a car and plane ticket from LA to New Orleans. It doesn't seem like a lot for a player who helped bring thousands of people through the turnstiles at USC games, but it could spell trouble for a college program that's only one game removed from the Reggie Bush induced probation period.
