A look into what story lines I am most excited about in this upcoming season
#1: A Full 82-Game Schedule
There were many times last season where it was clear guys hadn't practiced much and the quality on the court showed. Now going back to a full season with practices and rest the quality of play should improve.
Free throw percentages and shooting percentages were down across the board last year, look for that to increase.
On top of that, no one ever complained of an extra 22 games.
#2: The Brooklyn Nets Emergence
With rumors swirling for years on the future of this franchise the end result is finally upon us.
New owner, new players, new arena, new result?
Jay-Z (Shawn Carter), has made a massive impact on this franchise, from choosing the logo and colours, to bringing in a change of culture that will surely rub off on the players.
He has a sense of credibility about him and that everything he touches turns to gold which is a far cry from where this team was only a few years ago.
The Nets are the new "sexy team" band wagoners are getting in early to make sure people know they were always supporting Brooklyn and I for one will be watching these guys closely to see if they can live up to the hype.
#3: The New-Look Lakers
Don't get me wrong, not a Lakers fan in the slightest but you have to respect what the head office have managed to pull off this summer.
Adding former back to back MVP for a bag of peanuts and a high five is one thing, but being able to trade for multiple defensive player of the year in Dwight Howard and only giving up an often broken Bynum, newly acquired Eyenga and Josh McRoberts is pure genius.
With new players such as these joining the mix there will be high expectations and there could be a bit of a learning curve.
Dwight will be out for a few months yet and let's not forget that Nash is no spring chicken. This team reminds of the one one that had Shaq, Kobe, Gary Payton and Karl Malone, and we all know how that one ended, heaped with expectations but ultimately will not be cohesive enough to keep it together and win the ring.
All in all though there will be some excitement. Whether it's Kobe feuding with goofball Howard, Nash alley oops to "Superman" or the ever present headline Metta World Peace, this team is sure to make headlines this season.

#4: The Return Of The Newly Crowned King
I for one will closely follow Lebron's season, will he be the dominant star who now "get's it" or will he coast knowing he is now a champion and can turn it on whenever he chooses.
As a fan of the game I would hope he turns it up another level. Miami are pretty much the same team as last season with the only major additions being two spot up shooters in Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis.
They are still going to lean very heavily upon the shoulders of Lebron and his sidekicks in Wade and Bosh.
Expect Miami to again turn it on in stages and have a very similar to last one, dominant at times and ordinary in others yet they will still be there come the post season.
Whether or not they are strong enough to win it all again is another story entirely but they are definitely worth a watch.
#5: The Comeback Kids
Ok, so maybe kids isn't the right words but really excited to see Brandon Roy and Jeff Green back in the NBA.
Roy has returned after the Blazers organization forced him to retire with a knee injury.
After taking the season off he is back and has joined the Timberwolves, bringing with him a steady presence lacking since the "Big Ticket" left town all those years ago.
If his workout videos are anything to go by, Roy should help in pushing Minnesota into the playoffs and will make this young and exciting team all that much more special.
Green for those of you who don't remember is a legit player in this league.
After being traded to the Celtics from the Thunder in the Perkins trade, it was quickly found that Green had a major heart issue which required immediate surgery and he lost the whole of last season.
A perfect complementary player, Jeff Green will work hard to show he was worth the big contract the Celtics just gave him, showing that he may be the future face of this proud franchise.
Those are the top story lines lines I am looking forward to seeing, what are yours?
