Fox Sports is airing back to back games in Week 15 in the NFL, including two games with wildcard contenders. Every game on Foxtel in Week 15 has huge playoff implications. Check out the Week 15 previews below!
New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins
When and Where: Monday December 16, Sun Life Stadium, Miami, FL
Both of these teams had crucial, but lucky, wins last week in the clutch. The Dolphins snuck home thanks to the foot of Antonio Brown and the Patriots just scraped home against the Browns thanks to some great onside kicking by Stephen Gostowski. Show the kicker some love! We saw on TNF how important a good onside kick is, sorry Matt Prater.
If the Patriots win out the rest of the season, all playoff paths must go through Foxboro. If you know the NFL, you know how hard it is to beat the Patriots in Foxboro. If the Patriots finish the regular with the number one seed they are a great chance to make yet another Super Bowl. Kudos to Bill Belicheck on a great coaching effort.
Up first though is a tough road game against the rejuvenated Dolphins. The loss of the Gronkowski hurts the Pats passing attack and the Dolphins are great in pass defense. They have only allowed 15 passing touchdowns. To win this game, Tom Brady will have to be Tom Terrific.
The Dolphins will only have to look at game footage from last week to see how to beat the Patriots, through the air. The Browns exposed serious flaws in their defense. Tannehill and Mike Wallace must connect in this game, similar to what they did against the Jets and Panthers, to give themselves a winning chance in this one. The Browns racked up four sacks last week so look for Cameron Wake to get his paws on Brady. With only one playoff appearance in eleven years this game is as important as any in recent memory for Miami, a loss will most likely rule them out of playoff contention.
Watch Out For: Dolphins TE Charles Clay. Clay tore it up last week racking 97 yards and two touchdowns. Clay has become a reliable and safe weapon for Tannehill and is now the best tight end in the AFC East.
Final Word and Prediction: It is hard to bet against the Patriots but something smells salty about this game, its probably that Miami sea breeze. Dolphins to get the right amount of pressure on Brady and force an upset.
Miami 27 - 17
Green Bay Packers @ Dallas Cowboys
When and Where: Monday December 16, AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX
Both teams had detrimental losses last week but thanks to other results are still alive in the playoff race. The Packers are mathematically still a chance to make playoffs but without Aaron Rodgers again for this weeks game it seems highly unlikely that they will feature in the post season. As for Dallas they control their own fate with the Eagles.
The Cowboys own the tiebreaker on the Eagles from a win earlier this season so they need to remain with reach of them for a possible second consecutive year of a week 17 playoff showdown. the Cowboys defense is terrible, so many coverage problems that reminds me of a phone company that shall remain nameless. They allow a league worse 441.9 yards per game. If this porous defense allows Matt Flynn to exploit it the way Josh McCowan did last week they deserve to miss out on the post season.
Those who blame Tony Romo for the Cowboys woes probably don't watch any of the games, he did throw a season low 104 yards last week but still had three touchdowns and no interceptions. He has been nothing short of spectacular this season. No doubt about it.
Matt Flynn had a decent game as the starting quarterback for the Packers last week against the Falcons, completing 24 of 32 passes for 258 yards and a touchdown. Despite the yard leakage of the Dallas defense they have forced 25 turnovers and thus Flynn must be very cautious when in the pocket. DeMarcus Ware has had a quiet season but was solid last week and posted another sack to his impressive career total. If Flynn holds onto the ball to long, Ware will be in his element.
Watch Out For: WR Jordy Nelson. After the stellar performances from Alshon Jeffry and Brandon Marshall last week, Nelson should deliver a great game with plenty of yardage. Expect at least one touchdown.
Final Word and Prediction: Despite being destroyed by a back up quarterback last week and missing Sean Lee, Dallas will emerge from Texas with a win. The defense can't be beat by a backup two weeks in a row surely?
Dallas 31 - 21
